SOA participated in the EU-funded SHICC (Sustainable Housing for Inclusive and Cohesive Cities) between 2020 and 2021. The mission of the project was to support the establishment of more successful Community Land Trusts (CLTs) in cities across the North-West European region.

Over the initial three-year project, (2017 - 2020) it invested in four existing CLTs in Brussels, Ghent, Lille and London to ‘prove the concept’, create a supportive policy and funding environment for CLTs, and build a movement across the region. During the second of the project (2020 - 2021) the partnership extended to include four additional country champions based in the Netherlands, Germany, Scotland and Ireland, at which time SOA joined as Irish project partner.

The project provided the opportunity for SOA to research and advocate for the establishment of CLTs in Ireland, and also produced a number of documents which continue to act as essential resources for those interested in the European expansion of the CLT.
